Once chosen, this character couldn't be changed until other fighters joined the party in the chapters below. There's also more of a story to show why Galeem & Dharkon are even here to begin with, despite having the same non-dialogue method of telling a story as Subspace Emissary, but with more words coming from the characters when it's needed to avoid some scenes from coming off as awkward as well as the Assist Trophies being involved. Players would choose a character to begin with to play through the individual Light/Dark Realm stages. The mode features a world map where locations can be selected, the difficulty can be chosen & the characters who'll enter the stage can also be chosen. Players navigate mostly linear stages jumping over obstacles & defeating groups of enemies, which include Light or Dark Clones that contain spirits of characters & items from various franchise. Boss Smash: Play as 1 of the bosses except Galeem Soul & Dharkon Soul & see if you can defeat every fighter & defeatable Assist Trophy.ġ2-Player Smash is available, but it doesn't occupy a separate mode as it did in Smash 4.ĭespite having the same story & world maps as World of Light, Final Smash plays more similar to Subspace Emissary, with the mode being a side-scrolling adventure in the style of a platformer with less emphasis on "spirit" battles as well as more maps to contain more of the bosses.Assist Smash: Some of the Assist Trophies become playable with their own idle animations & expanded movesets with some moves that they can't do as Assist Trophies & have to fight several clones of the fighters before ending with a boss fight with the only ones not playable are Rathalos, Deviljho, Slender Man, King Sombra, Anti-Monitor & Tabuu since they're also bosses.
